Janelle Schlueter
MS, LPC, NCC, CCTP
I help survivors of sexual assault take back their power with tools, education, and support to feel safe in their lives again. I also work with people navigating OCD, offering strategies and understanding to help quiet intrusive thoughts and regain control. My approach blends compassion, empowerment, and real talk—with space for both hard work and moments of laughter along the way.
About Janelle
I have devoted my career to helping people heal from trauma. Compassion and expertise guide my work as a therapist, with a focus on helping clients heal from trauma and reclaim a sense of safety and strength. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), with over 100 hours of advanced clinical training and continuing education in the specialized area of trauma treatment. I have worked as a therapist in the mental health field since 2017.
I offer care grounded in research, a supportive space for healing, and empowering tools clients can carry into their daily lives. In addition to trauma treatment, I also specialize in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), using evidence-based strategies to help clients navigate intrusive thoughts and compulsions with greater confidence and freedom.

How can I Help?
Using a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS/Parts Work), and psychoeducation, I tailor treatment to your specific needs while staying aligned with the most effective, research-supported methods. IFS is one of the most powerful approaches for trauma, helping clients heal by connecting with and understanding their inner parts. I also provide specialized care for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, utilizing Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for managing intrusive thoughts and compulsions.
My Specialties
While many life experiences can be distressing, not all experiences result in PTSD. My practice focuses on individuals with PTSD symptoms. If you’re unsure whether your experiences meet the clinical criteria, I offer thorough assessments to ensure you receive the most appropriate care for your specific needs.
True trauma therapy involves building a strong foundation first. We’ll focus on preparing your mind and body to handle the work ahead—this usually takes a few sessions. And don’t worry, we won’t dive into traumatic events in the first session; instead, we’ll focus on understanding your goals and how we can work together.
I believe healing doesn’t have to be all serious—humor is a vital part of the process! My clients and I often share a laugh, even during tough work, because sometimes, a well-timed joke is just as therapeutic as coping skills. Therapy must be a place where you feel comfortable, human, and able to find moments of lightness.
A Little about Me
I’m from Minnesota—so if you ever hear me say “uff da” or talk about surviving 10 feet of snow, you’ll know where it comes from!
As a survivor of sexual assault and someone who has faced significant, life-threatening health challenges, I understand firsthand how overwhelming it can feel to cope and heal from trauma. I bring this lived experience into my work, offering not only professional expertise but also genuine empathy and understanding.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, watching true crime, and being with my rescue husky—even though he’s quite the handful!
Resources By Janelle
I’m passionate about creating practical tools that support real healing. I’ve developed step-by-step worksheets designed to help you better understand your thoughts and emotions, shift unhelpful patterns, and build calmer, more confident responses to life’s challenges. I also authored How Can I Let Go of My Trauma?—a Parts Work Therapy Enhancer Workbook grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS). Many clients use this workbook both in and outside of session and describe it as a powerful companion in their healing journey. You can incorporate the workbook into your therapy work, and for those wanting deeper exploration, I also offer an IFS-based intensive and webinar built around this curriculum.
