Group therapy is the process in which a collection of individuals, working on similar issues, meets to share and process concerns and solutions. A trained, licensed therapist facilitates group sessions.
This process can be beneficial in a number of ways. Clients can receive professional guidance, as well as peer support from others dealing with comparable struggles. Individuals can learn to give and receive support, feel empowered, and begin to understand that they are not alone in dealing with certain issues. Group therapy can also be a cost-effective way to receive treatment, as group session rates are lower than individual session rates.
The therapists at the Counseling Center at Cinco Ranch have a variety of experiences in facilitating group therapy.
Currently, some of the group themes available are:
- Coping with Middle School for Tweens
- Men’s and Women’s Groups
- Support for New Moms
- Teen Mental Health Support Group
- Group Support for LPC Interns
