Young Adult Therapy Group

Group Counseling at Counseling Center at Cinco Ranch

Do you want to feel supported by others that may be experiencing similar issues? Being part of a group can help you feel like you are not alone.

What is Group Therapy?

Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy in which a collection of individuals meet to share and process concerns and solutions. Groups are formed with individuals working on similar issues. Group sessions can be 60 to 90 minutes, and can meet weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Groups can be as small as 3-4 people and as large as 8-12 people. Typically, at least one licensed therapist facilitates the group sessions.

How is Group Therapy Beneficial?

This process can be beneficial in a number of ways.

Firstly, clients can receive professional guidance. Additionally, they will have peer support from others dealing with comparable struggles.

Secondly, individuals can learn to give and receive support. They can feel empowered and begin to understand that they are not alone in dealing with certain issues.

Furthermore, group therapy can also be a cost-effective way to receive treatment. Group session rates are typically lower than individual session rates.

Parts Work Intensive

Have you experienced trauma or an adverse life event in your past? Do you feel like it is causing inner conflict or hindering your progress in life? Have you ever said to yourself, “Part of me feels one way, and another part feels the exact opposite” about a certain situation? This Parts Work Intensive might just be for you!

During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to work with Janelle Schlueter, MS, LPC, NCC, CCTP, who is a trauma specialist and trained in Parts Work. She will guide you through the process of understanding the different parts of you, each part’s traits, fears, goals, etc., and eventually having them work together on the journey of healing. Parts Work is based on the theory of Internal Family Systems, originated by Richard Schwartz.

This 6-week, 12-hour intensive provides the opportunity to complete the therapeutic work of 20-25 individual counseling sessions. It will be an intimate group, and Janelle will be with you every step of the way! You will also receive a Parts Work Workbook to continue your journey in the future. Please call the center for more information.

  • Connections: Whether you’re looking for new friends, or simply a place to belong, women’s group fosters a sense of community that can significantly reduce feelings of isolation
  • Support: Being with others who share similar emotions is deeply therapeutic. It’s not about advice but creating a space for empathy, helping you process tough feelings and cope with life’s challenges.
  • Accountability: Group members often share similar goals, creating mutual encouragement. Whether it’s offering advice, being consistent in cheering each other on or receiving the extra support that you need to keep going, the group’s collective energy keeps you motivated and focused on your goals.
  • Empowerment: Women’s groups help you reclaim your power, overcome self-doubt, and build a positive self-relationship. The inspiration from others motivates you to push past limits and strive for your best self.
  • Learning environment: Women’s groups provide opportunities to improve skills like communication, stress management, and self-care, helping you develop new tools for handling whatever you might be facing.
