Hello!

Life can be tough. There are so many things coming at you all at once. I have heard the word overwhelmed a few times. Having a space to come and slow things down can help you learn new ways to better deal with all life has to offer. I would love to help you on that journey.

Me as a Therapist

I am the therapist who talks to you like a person. I try my best to make therapy feel more like a conversation rather than intimidating. I work best with children, couples, and families.

I tend to be a therapist who uses various approaches depending on what is needed. There is no cookie-cutter answer for every single person/family, so your therapy shouldn't feel that way either. Below, I go over more specific approaches I use for different types of therapy.

Therapy for Kids

Many different things can cause what I like to call big feelings in children. Signs that therapy might help would be if a child is struggling academically, if there are behavioral issues at school or home, and/or if there are difficulties with making relationships with friends at school or family members at home.

Also, kids will process things differently because they do not have the skills that adults do.  That's a good thing.  They are not supposed to act like little adults.  If they do, I tend to have more questions.  For therapy with children, I tend to utilize play activities and attachment therapy, and I am a certified adolescent and child trauma professional (CATP).  This means I have specific training in helping children and teens process trauma and rebuild healthy attachments.

Therapy for Couples

Adults would be more suited for more talk therapy, including psychoeducation, communication training, attachment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, and building healthy intimacy. I have training in attachment therapy, specifically in emotionally focused therapy. This allows me insight into how the couple interacts on an emotional level.

Again, therapy looks different depending on your needs.  For couples, many times difficulties with communication, high conflict, and limited connectability can be reasons to seek treatment.  I tend to focus on those emotions and how to effectively have the message land well for your partner so that you both can feel heard and get to the core issues.

Therapy for Families

Families can be tricky. There are more people with more perspectives. With my training as a certified family trauma professional (CFTP), I focus on helping mend bonds within the family unit. It is hard to understand others' points of view if we also feel unheard. In family therapy, I break down each person's standpoint into more digestible conversations so that each person can truly hear the other.

Family therapy with me again looks different for each family.  Some families need more focus in one area than another.  I will recommend what is necessary for your family based on your needs.  Call today to schedule an assessment so that I can help you and your family heal in a healthy way.

Something About Me

I am a dedicated mom of two and a wife.  I love spending time with my family.  We are definitely a board game family! We are currently really into Uno and Villainous.

Fellow parents, sometimes we need quiet time to ourselves. For me, unwinding means reading, walking/hiking, spending time with my dog, playing softball, and/or creating art!
