Group Counseling
Do you want to feel supported by others that may be experiencing similar issues? Being part of a group can help you feel like you are not alone.
What is Group Therapy?
Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy in which a collection of individuals meet to share and process concerns and solutions. Groups are formed with individuals working on similar issues. Group sessions can be 60 to 90 minutes, and can meet weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Groups can be as small as 3-4 people and as large as 8-12 people. Typically, at least one licensed therapist facilitates the group sessions.
How is Group Therapy Beneficial?
This process can be beneficial in a number of ways.
Firstly, clients can receive professional guidance. Additionally, they will have peer support from others dealing with comparable struggles.
Secondly, individuals can learn to give and receive support. They can feel empowered and begin to understand that they are not alone in dealing with certain issues.
Furthermore, group therapy can also be a cost-effective way to receive treatment. Group session rates are typically lower than individual session rates.
