One of life’s guarantees is that we will experience pain and sadness at some point. One of life’s blessings is that we do not have to navigate these experiences alone. Human beings have the ability to heal emotionally just as they do physically- with time, patience, and seeking help.
How can I help?
If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), self-esteem, past traumas or struggling to cope with all the challenges the world is facing – I am here to help you. I enjoy helping clients gain an understanding of what they are experiencing through education. Then, together we identify ways to reduce the undesired symptoms. Woven into sessions is the concept of ‘empowerment’, becoming stronger and more confident. It is a great passion of mine to help individuals once again find peace as well as happiness. Humor is one part of my therapy style and I encourage it for homework, too. Who says therapy cannot be both helpful and fun?!
My Specialties
I have worked with both teens and adults regarding issues of trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, self-esteem, and sometimes “just having someone to talk to.” I specialize in issues such as trauma/PTSD from sexual assault and military trauma. My passion is working with individuals who are experiencing issues that are negatively impacting their lives, whatever that may be. I also enjoy working with individuals as they navigate healthy relationships, self-esteem, self-worth, and setting healthy boundaries.
Just as each person is unique, so is each treatment plan and approach. I use a variety of treatment approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention, and various Trauma-Informed approaches.
A Little about Me
I have a Master of Science in Professional Counseling and have practiced in the Houston area since 2017. In addition to my counseling license, I have been accepted into the National Board of Certified Counselors as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I also have additional/specialized training in the area of trauma and PTSD and am recognized as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). In my spare time I enjoy playing amateur sleuth trying to solve true crime! I also have a rescue Husky that I saved from an abusive situation- ironic that the trauma counselor saves a traumatized dog? I look forward to us getting to know each other more!
Parts Work Intensive
In addition to individual counseling, I provide Intensives for those looking to speed up their therapeutic journey, or who need something extra to expedite their growth. Currently, I am enrolling for a Parts Work Intensive, which is based on the theory of Internal Family Systems by Richard Schwartz. During this 6-week, 12-hour course you will work intimately with me and a small group of individuals to discover and explore your different parts, have them work together towards growth, and heal past trauma or negative experiences. You will receive a workbook, and have the opportunity to complete the therapeutic work that can often take 20-25 counseling sessions to complete. Check out the flyer and video below for more information, or read my blog on Parts Work. Please reach out to me to enroll and with any questions!
