Building a positive self-confidence mantra for kids is a simple way to integrate mental health into your home. Repetition of positive self-confidence-building statements is more important than you would imagine for your child's development. The more a child hears a positive comment or statement, the stronger that neuro pathway becomes. Therefore, it will become a positive automatic thought, which is better than a negative one.
Three Examples of a Positive Self-confidence Mantra for Kids:
"My reality is created by me" Mantra
This mantra is a strong reminder that they are in charge of their reactions and behaviors. They are the author and main character of their story, and it is nice to remind them of this when things get scary or uncertain."I can and I will"
This mantra is simple yet powerful. How many times do you hear your child say, "I can't"? The more they say it, the higher the potential of it becoming a strong negative go-to thought. A positive self-confidence-building mantra can challenge negative thoughts and encourage positive automatic thoughts."I am calm like a river"
Imagery and creativity are two great strengths that children have. The ability to let their minds be creative and have fun in the process. Stating the desired emotion with an easy visual that all kids can imagine is a simple way to help them build foundational mental health knowledge. As the parents don't be scared to have fun and join in on the creativity, guide them through the rough waters of the river while they slowly become a calm river with a gentle flow. How to Build a Positive Self-Confidence Mantra for Your Home
You know your child better than anyone. You know their go-to or automatic self-talk statements. Take their automatic thoughts into consideration while creating the positive self-confidence mantra. By using the opposite of their statement, for example, "I can't" to "I can" or "I never" to "not right now", you challenge their negative automatic thought. Another way is to integrate imagery or empowerment into the mantra. For example, "I am as strong as a [insert favorite type of tree] tree" or "I bend and flow like a tree but never break". You can see the imagery and feel the empowerment coming from each of those statements. Creating a positive self-confidence mantra for your family can be a fun and creative way to integrate positive mental health strategies into your home. Remember to take into consideration your child's interests and likes. Keep your positive mantra short, positive, and easy to remember.Begin Therapy or Support for Mental Health in Katy, TX!
