New Year's Resolutions

A new year and new resolutions!
Hip! Hip! Hooray! 2023 is officially around the corner! This is an exciting time to start thinking about the changes you want for yourself. When we think of new year's resolutions, we think of the things we've been longing to achieve but haven't done…yet! Maybe 2022 wasn't a great year for many, and perhaps you just needed to experience this year to figure things out. Regardless of what it was, this is the time to start analyzing the necessary changes that'll result in positive change for you.
The big and the small changes:
Now, when we talk about change, there are way too many things that you might want to change. But a new year's resolution is not defined by how big or small; everyone's goals are tailored to their needs and wants. A small new year's resolution might be exercising a bit more, being nicer to yourself, journaling, or letting go of something that bothered you. While big new year's resolutions might be reducing clutter (in your space and in your life), traveling more, volunteering, and doing random acts of kindness on a daily basis. All very different things essential to your well-being.
Why does this matter?
It matters for many reasons! Everyone seeks to have a clean slate at some point in life; when you set goals and go through with them, you experience control over your life. If you've struggled with feeling stuck, new year's resolutions offer an opportunity to start strong and keep going as long as you want. New year's resolutions help you heal, help you enhance your emotional, mental, and physical well-being, and help you become the best version of yourself possible. New year's resolutions take work and a lot of effort and patience to achieve. As humans, we all wish we could wake up and see change happen. Unfortunately for all of us, change takes time, and often it's a process that includes falling a little. But there's nothing wrong with that; we get back up when we fall! When you feel like change might not happen, keep yourself going and remind yourself that this is all part of the change you want to see. Like your therapist would say, one mistake does not define the progress already made, no matter how far or early on in the process you're at.
