Taylor Swift To Cope With a Breakup? Duh!
This blog has been a long time coming…you may or may not have your own opinions about Taylor Swift…and we may not agree, but hear me out! This blog isn't about her only because I’m a giant Swiftie myself, but if there's anyone who can write a masterpiece about heartbreak, relationships, and valuing yourself, it is no other than Taylor Swift herself! After all, the reason this matters is straightforward, as humans, we are all bound to experience heartbreak in our life. It may come from relationships not working out, it may stem from infidelity, broken promises, lies, and maybe just not being compatible. Throughout all of it, something shared amongst all reasons is the pain one feels when having to let go of someone who was significant in your life.Relationship Issues
As I mentioned, relationship issues are common. Even the famous experience them firsthand. The thing about Taylor herself is she has no shame in relationships that have failed her. I think we can all agree this makes her that much more genuine. In order to cope with her feelings, she writes about it and makes it a form of entertainment for the world to experience. We live through her experiences and in the process reflect on our own pain, but it’s not all bad. We get to grow from the shared experiences as women facing relationship issues throughout our lives.Best Lyrics
If you ask me, every lyric is a work of art (wink, wink!) but truly, think of it as quotes. Lyrics speak for themselves and can be a representation of thoughts and feelings we may be going through. Here are some of the most empowering lyrics from Taylor Swift herself, but don't blame me if you go down the rabbit hole looking for more! For Moving On
- Red: “Losing him was blue, like I'd never known, missing him was dark gray, all alone, forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met but loving him was red”
- 22: “We're happy, free, confused, and lonely in the best way, It's miserable and magical, oh yeah, tonight's the night when we forget about the heartbreaks”
- Willow: “Life was a willow and it bent right to your wind, but I come back stronger than a ’90s trend”
For Female Empowerment & Self Worth
- New Romantics: “Cause baby, I could build a castle out of all the bricks they threw at me”
- Bejeweled: “Best believe I'm still bejeweled. When I walk in the room, I can still make the whole place shimmer”
- Shake It Off: “Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play / And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate / Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake / I shake it off, I shake it off”
Why does it matter?
It matters because you should never allow a relationship that didn't work out define you as a person and make you feel any less than. You still matter. You are still someone who deserves to be valued and respected when moving on, healing, and trying it all over again. That's part of life. It may take a few tries before you find your person, and if you don't right away, that's okay. You're not on your own, kid! Relationships aren't perfect, no matter how close to “perfect” your partner may feel. The point of all of this is ultimately knowing your worth! Sometimes, we have this thing where we get older but just never wiser, and in therapy we see women struggling to find themselves again after a difficult relationship, feeling worthless and hopeless. I am here to encourage you to gain your power again and gain control of your life even if it's through music (Taylor Swift) to be exact! If she can publicly get through all her breakups and write songs about them, use her songs to cope with your pain and be the bada** woman you are and are meant to be!Begin Therapy To Cope with a Breakup in Katy, TX!
