Are you a teen girl aged 14-17 years old? If this is you... you've found the right place to be. Group counseling isn't exactly what you may be thinking; it's not just us sitting around in a circle and having structured conversations. It's far more than that, it's an effective way of receiving feedback and having meaningful conversations with others who may be facing similar challenges in their life.
Group counseling isn't always structured, its many different topics and conversations taking place. It's allowing yourself to bring others into your world in a supportive environment that doesn't just put you in the spotlight. It also opens the door to diverse thoughts, opinions, and emotions from others while gaining support and validation.
Why should you join group therapy
Group therapy is something I always recommend. Whether this is your only form of therapy or an added layer to your individual counseling, being in a group setting gives you additional insight that you may not find elsewhere. On top of that, being surrounded by a group of girls who are facing challenges like your own is an intimate bond you create simply off of being in a group setting while taking in the tools your therapist is giving you in order to grow and face your own challenges. The overall benefits
As mentioned earlier, there are many more benefits to being in group therapy, such as: - Developing social skills - Building confidence - Having a strong support system - Learning new skills and techniques - Gaining healthy behaviors - Gaining tools to understand yourself better - Normalizing some of your hardships - Much more! There are never ending benefits to receiving group therapy whether that is in an all girls group or a Co-Ed group like some of the ones offered here at our center.Parents of a teen girl
If you have a teen girl and you feel they may be a fit, I would like to encourage you to give it a chance. Many times, as a parent, you may feel individual therapy is a better approach, and it may be, but allowing your teen to be in a group setting can allow them to grow as people and grow through the difficulties in their life in a safe space. On top of that, no need to worry, group counseling is always led by a licensed professional counselor in order to ensure the resources, techniques, and psychoeducation being received is appropriate and effective.Begin Group Therapy in Katy, TX!
